Differences Between 2019 Kia Optima & 2019 Kia Stinger
Serving Cincinnati, OH, Fairfield, OH, and Springfield, OH
Over the past few years, Kia has forged a reputation for crafting great-looking cars, which have style that can oftentimes overshadow their substantive attributes. The Optima, which serves as Kia’s midsize sedan, has been a prime example of that since its third generation of production (2010 to 2015). And with the 2018 model year, the Optima, which was facelifted to refresh the fourth-generation edition, was joined by its high-performance fastback cousin: the Stinger. As midsize vehicles, the 2019 versions of the Optima and Stinger have the following in common.
Performance
It also helps that the sports-like styling of the 2019 Optima and Stinger is backed by high-powered engine choices. On the Optima, you can opt for a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder, which is exclusive to the top-level SX trim and puts out 245 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. On the Stinger, the top-level engine available is even larger and more powerful: a 3.3-liter V6 that provides 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. Glued to an 8-speed transmission with five driving modes and paddle shifters, the V6 can enable the Stinger to go from 0 to 60 mph in as fast as 4.7 seconds.
Interior
Both the 2019 Kia Optima and 2019 Kia Stinger are blessed with feature-rich infotainment features: even at the base level. The UVO interface is usually commended for its straightforwardness; it’s awfully easy to learn to use, thanks to the simple menus and redundant buttons. On the Optima, though, the UVO system is anchored by an 8-inch touchscreen, while a smaller 7-inch touchscreen goes on the Stinger. Also standard on both vehicles are six-speaker audio, AM/FM radio, Bluetooth® wireless technology for hands-free phone calling and audio streaming, a trial SiriusXM® satellite radio subscription, USB and audio ports for connecting mobile devices, and Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ for smartphone integration.
Styling
The most obvious advantage that the 2019 Kia Optima and the 2019 Kia Stinger have over most other midsize sedans is their styling. They share the same aggressive exterior profile, which is characterized by low ground clearance, a boomerang-like front fascia that incorporates the grille and headlamps, and the marriage of sleek lines and sharp edges. The Stinger in particular uses a four-door fastback body style that has the rear of the car slightly sloping from the roof to the rear bumper. No matter which vehicle you choose, you are set to turn heads.
