Compact and sophisticated, the 2019 Kia Forte has evolved significantly from previous generations. The 2019 Kia Optima is a full-size sedan that has also acquired impressive new features. Both models offer 8.0-inch infotainment systems with the next-generation UVO technology. The Kia Drive Wise suite controls the active safety features in these reliable vehicles. You have access to more than 10 driving aides in each model, including automatic braking and parking assistants.
Performance
The 2019 Kia Forte's I-4 engine block produces up to 147 horsepower. Using the Atkinson Cycle to complete combustion, the 2.0 L powertrain yields 132 pound-feet of torque. A turbocharger powers the 2019 Optima's 1.6 L engine, which is rated at 178 hp and 195 lb-ft. The 2.0 L turbo engine whips out 245 hp and 260 lb-ft. Additionally, the Optima offers a 2.4 L naturally aspirated engine that produces 185 hp and 178 lb-ft. This full-size sedan comes standard with the Sportmatic Sport Shifter in the gearbox. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard in three trims. The EX is equipped with a dual-clutch transmission with seven gear ratios. Introduced in 2019, the Forte's Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) offers responsive shifting on the highway.
Interior
An 8.0-inch touch screen is available in the 2019 Forte and Optima. You can get the UVO Link or UVO Play software in the Optima and the UVO eServices suite in the Forte. Both vehicles are connected to live traffic updates by SiriusXM. You could use the Voice-Command Navigation to request data on local roads, landmarks and destinations. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are compatible with the UVO technology in these Kia sedans. Hands-free phone connections are supported by wireless Bluetooth technology. Both models offer premium entertainment on HD Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio. The instrument clusters in these vehicles include the 3.5-inch display or 4.2-inch display with TFT LCD technology. The Smart Key is synced with the ignition, door locks and engine immobilizer in these Kia cars. Additionally, the Forte and Optima have dual zone automatic temperature control. Some of the upholstery options for the seats in the Optima include Nappa leather and the CleanTex cloth. This premium sedan boasts climate-controlled front seats and heated cushions in the rear seats.
Safety
The 2019 Forte and Optima have the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, which activates the brakes in anticipation of a potential crash. This all-new technology is available with the Pedestrian Detection function. Both sedans offer the Smart Cruise Control that maintains a safe trailing distance on the road. The Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning detects vehicles that move into your projected path. In the Optima, you can use the Surround View Monitor to get a detailed view of the surroundings. Additionally, the Park Distance Warning-Reverse is linked to sonar sensors that detect potential obstacles when you back up. Both sedans have the Blind Spot Collision Warning that appears in the exterior side mirrors.
