Porsche reduced mass through thinner side glass, aluminum panels in select areas, seam-welded chassis reinforcements, and a simplified interior with manual windows in most configurations. Suspension tuning, stiffer bushings, and unique springs sharpened response, while the 3.6-liter M64/03 engine delivered increased performance with a more immediate throttle character. The combination of analog feedback, reduced insulation, and direct steering has made the 964 RS one of the most coveted naturally aspirated air-cooled Porsches of the nineties.
